The opening ceremony of the “Les lumières obscures” (“Dark lights”) art exhibition was organized in Geneva
The opening ceremony of the “Les lumières obscures” (“Dark lights”) art exhibition under the cycle “European Roots” was organized on 15 September 2014 by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations at Geneva and the Permanent Delegation of the Council of Europe to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
H.E. Dr. Murad Najafbayli, Ambassador, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations at Geneva and H.E. Petru Dumitriu, Ambassador, the Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva has declared the exhibition open and welcomed the guests. It has been also highlighted that the exhibition is being held within the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
Art works of an artist living with bipolar disorder, Alexandre Alpeyrie are demonstrated in the exhibition. Within the chairmanship of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan supported the printing of digital artworks of the artist.
Along with the President of the UN Human Rights Council and the Chairperson of the Committee on the Rights of the Persons with Disabilities, the event brought together permanent representatives accredited in the UN office in Geneva, other members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations in Geneva, city officials, academic staff of universities, and members of the diaspora and Azerbaijani students.
The exhibition will continue until the 26 September 2014.
