Panel discussion on "Protecting People on the Move: Internally displaced persons in the context of the refugee and migrant crisis" was organized on the margins of the 37th Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council with the Geneva Centre For Human Rights Advancement and Global Dialogue.
Panel discussion was aimed on efforts to safeguard and promote the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) expelled from their native lands as a result of conflict and violence in different parts of the world.
Ambassador Vaqif Sadiqov said that the number of IDPs reaches record 41 million and this problem often does not find a political solution and always out of the media's focus.
The Vice Rector of ADA University Fariz Ismayilzada provided detailed information on the policy implemented by Azerbaijani government towards IDPs. Improvement of refugees' and IDPs' status was the main priority of the Azerbaijani government. F.Ismayilzade also spoke about the development stages of this policy and the work done and implemented to improve the living conditions and social welfare of IDPs.
